February 3, 2017 – The member of European Parliament and former Slovakian minister of foreign affairs, Eduard Kukan, sent a strong condemnation for the so-called Albanian platform of the parties representing the Albanian voters in the Macedonian Parliament, and which, according to him, had been prepared by the Edi Rama, the prime minister of a neighbouring country of Macedonia. Kukan, member of the European People’s Party (EPP) in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament (AFET), notified that such a platform is completely unacceptable for him, as well as for the European Union. As he stressed, “Albania has always had good results regarding the regional collaboration, and that is appreciated, but, I will stop right there now. The actions of the Albanian prime minister after the election in Macedonia are completely unacceptable for me, completely unacceptable! Inviting the Albanian political parties form Macedonia, and discussing their platform and what they should do when they get back to their country, I think that it is really too much.” As Kukan added, “I am surprised that nobody mentions that publicly, but I know it has caused much criticism, much criticism. That is not the way things are done,” he underscoured. At the same time, according to the Macedonian official news agency MIA, the European Commission, and the European Union Council, at the meetings of the foreign affairs ministers of the EU member countries, still keep things quiet regarding the so-called Albanian platform in Macedonia, because of which the country can still not form a government and get out of the political crisis, taking into consideration that the platform is a condition for forming a new Macedonian state leadership.
